WONDER YEARS GALORE
In the 30 plus years I spent photographing in the streets of New York City capturing the real New Yorkers, I had several spots I considered ‘my favorite’. One of these spots was on the corner of 42nd Street and 7th Avenue, the heart of Times Square.
Every year, around May to July, countless limousines filled with revelling young people, looking out their windows, flowed downtown on 7th avenue in what seemed like a metallic river of excitement and noisy revelry.
It was 2004 and I was at the corner with pedestrians and automobiles all around me, when and one such limousine took the turn tightly and in front of me I caught a view of four young party prom teenagers with a look of excitement that was dazzling, I could see their faces peering out the limousine window up close. I don’t know if it was the alcohol or weed or whatever, but they were dressed up and from the buzz on their faces, just ecstatic to be in the heart of the Big CIty, as they were in New York City having the time of their lives.
