I’ve spent over 30 years photographing in the streets of New York. I regularly shot around Times Square and you better believe I have encountered some pretty interesting people, sometimes more stranger than some of us can imagine. There was one particular person , a man or woman I could only guess and he/she would always be standing somewhere on some corner around Times Square every night. Whether it was at a corner to the west by 8th Avenue & 42nd Street , in the middle by Broadway & 42nd Street and as far South as 7th Avenue and 34th Street, I knew she existed as she knew I existed but I’ll tell you one thing, I was always scared to take a picture of him/her always being careful what I was asking for. Anyhow, one night I was photographing in front of my store on 7th Avenue and 41th Street and she walked by me with another weird outfit and just stood there for a half hour and staring at me without moving with the big glasses, long leather coat and a hat, which I still have nightmares about. I managed to snap this very rare photo as he/she walked by me migrating to another corner just down the way (up or down the block).
